Our village is usually pretty free of cucas. A contractor would be round on a regular basis lifting the main drain covers and spraying them. It kept good control. This year I haven't seen the contractor yet but I am frequently seeing cucas running about on the roads when I take the dogs for a walk before bed. La Crisis is biting ayuntamiento finances very hard now I guess. Time to buy a large can of spray.

I did wonder how they could afford to be repainting the yellow no-parking and vado permanente kerbs all over the village just recently. I think we will have to watch out, it probably presages a spate of ticketing cars for parking offences to raise a bit of cash.

That's the nature of forums though. Some people take them far too seriously. Sooner or later the person who you never agree with will post something and you will find you have a lot in common. It's a bit like kids in the playground, one minute thick as thieves, next forming another group and a week later all back together again

Exctly forums are for discussion, I like a well reasoned one, and of course it gets heated often, but that does not mean that it has to be taken too seriously.
On a side note, there is to be a law against cyber bullying in the UK, to stop anonymos people posting bad remarks.

What I dont understand if it is so stressfull, why dont they "victims" just switch off, after all it is only vitrual, not like in the playground where it is actual.

No Eurozone Country now has it's destiny within control of it's own Government any more, they are being dragged into the net of control by the EU Parliament. It will work for a while but eventually the cost will prove too much and then we need to worry. When Europe becomes one state will the French who have just announced reducing public sector pension age back to 60 be happy to on the say of this central Government to increase it to 67 the German retirement age? maybe I'm wrong and the Germans will reduce theirs to 60? can you see that happening? I also suppose that the next move will be Italy also going for a loan not a bailout? Time will tell but the whole Euro experiment on the face of it looks like a total mess but that is if you look at it from the financial point of view, if looked at from a political view well maybe not they will be forced into tighter and tighter central control to eventually become Europe rather than countries, then watch out. Where will the UK end up in this who knows. It is like an ongoing soap opera of grief just wonder how long it can go on and who can predict the absolute outcome. Mind you I bet Mrs Merkel has a little smile on her face today.

Two years ago, I heard a cry for help from my neighbour who was out in the street. I thought he was being mugged and rushed out with a base ball bat.

He was standing over a drain in middle of the street with a brush, trying to stem the flow of cockroaches emerging from it and heading for our houses. i joined in with my base ball bat and we killed hundreds of them as they poured out of the drain.

Further down the street, the local council were putting poison down another drain to kill them, and the brown monsters were coming out of our drain to escape. It was a long battle before the men from the council, with their protective suits and masks came to our drain.

Even though they were wearing masks, I could see that the buggers were laughing.
