To lose face goes quite deep in Spanish culture, as it does in the Middle East, if I may generalise, which is always dicey!
Anti-semitic taunts come quite easily here, but probably in most Western cultures as well.
I think we Brits are better losers or at least we have been; whether it's still true, I'm not sure.

This reminds me of one of my Spanish lessons.
We were learning the different uses for the word 'se' apparently there are 14.
The one that stuck in my mind was the 'not my fault explanation'.
Too late to dig out my notes but it went something like ' I didn't break the plate, the plate broke on me'
The tutor rabbited on about how the Spanish and the Portuguese never blame themselves. It's always somebody else's fault.

I think this thread demonstrates that while some spend hours on other threads calling some posters Facists, anti-Jewish comments which would break the law in the UK are OK. Or would there have been a different response if Brits had done 18000 racist comments after Pakistan beat them at cricket.

Jacky, I am still trying to get my head round the poster(s) who seem to think that the WASP's are the only one's who make racist comments, who make leering jokes about women etc etc. Usually they are the ones who can't separate race from nationality from religion.
They do it in all nations around the world, just that we don't speak the language(s) to understand
and in Spain I am sure you wouldn't get a minister demanding a television pundit be sacked for making a comment about the physiognomy of an athlete, male or female. Especially when he is repeating the words of her father

Simply I had been having some drinks the other night with a mixed race girl, then she started going through my pictures on my phone, she then came out with some word about 'blue eyed blondes', I said what is that, some kind of racial slur to us, she huffed and said no, its to 'white blonde blue eyed girls'.
She has a issue with them ?

Simply I had been having some drinks the other night with a mixed race girl, then she started going through my pictures on my phone, she then came out with some word about 'blue eyed blondes', I said what is that, some kind of racial slur to us, she huffed and said no, its to 'white blonde blue eyed girls'.
