Default Some questions about moving to Spain

Hi there,
We are thinking of moving to Valencia as early retirees. We have visited the area quite a lot but will still rent for a while before buying a house.
Please can anyone give me a rough estimate of costs for electricity, gas, water, garbage collection etc and what would be the cost of yearly property taxes for an average 3 bedroom house.
We will have 1500 pounds between us per month to live on (and some savings) after buying a house outright do forum members think this would be enough ?
Also I have read that you can join Valencia state health system for a monthly fee. Please can anyone tell me if we could join this straight away.
Finally has anyone shipped their belongings over to Valencia from the UK - was this straightforward and how much did it cost.
Thank you very much in anticipation of any help.
Debbi.

as a rough guide, if can live on that amount in the UK you can do so here - some things are cheaper some more expensive - on the whole probably a bit cheaper here

yes, you can join Valencia state health system for a monthly fee - but you would need private cover for the first 12 months or so, because you can't join it until you have been a registered resident for 12 months - & you need healthcare cover in order to register

Hi Deb

My wife and I are in a similar situation to you, I am not in Spain but would say with no mortgage and no debts £1500 is ample to live on.
Now the children have left we spend nothing like that amount a month in the UK so I dont see how Spain can be different from what I have seen on this site other than paying for you healthcare.
We were planning on going in 3 years when we are 55 but I think that date is going to be brought forward. I am fed up here (raining at the moment as I type this).
We are going in October to look around, have a chat with peps ive met on the internet then go from there. Maybe the end of next year?

Best of luck in your new life!!!

Hi Lynnxa, Rosemary and Cliff,
Thank you very much for your friendly and helpful replies.
Cliff - good luck with your trip in October hope all goes well for you.
We were going to wait for another few years but like you think we'll go sooner and I'm also sick of this rain we live in Manchester.
