Default Social Security Number - is it forever ?

Hello all, Looking for some info. I have lived in Seville from 2009 to 2013, during that time I was working through Randstad. Paying taxes etc. I already had a Spanish NIE number, The Paper version Not plastic card. The Social Security number on my payslips was in this form 00/00000000/00 i.e. all numbers. I will move to Barcelona later this year & was wondering if anyone knows is this Social Security number still valid or would I have to reapply for another.

Thanks to all for any info

Yes, despite the fact that the number (I think) includes a code for the city you first register, it is transferable and permanent.

I got mine in Málaga years ago and it was valid in Madrid.

The Spanish NIE certificate is ALWAYS a sheet of paper. It is NEVER anything else.

Yes , I had similar experience to previous comment , original number issued in the 1980s in Madrid, returned to work in northern Spain in 2002 , same number. In fact you can trace all your work history via your SS number.

It’s the same in the UK. Your NI number is for life.

in theory yes.. I have had 2 UK NI numbers
myself and somebody else shared the same number for 10 years, the number of interviews I had to go through to get a proper one was unreal

Same here for me in Spain. I found out that my NIE was being used by someone else and that he was receiving tax documents about me
