Smoking in Buildings
#16
I think most of the people in our community fumer
I guess Im in the minority, they are not supposed to drop cig butts by the pool but they do
I think some smokers can be a bit thoughtless sometimes.

I have never smoked in my life - in early teens all my classmates were talking about it so asked my dad for a drag, and beat the 4min mile to go to the loo where I was as sick as a dog, never smoked since.
So I can say, as a never smoked rather than a loud censorious reformed smoker, Smokers Are The Most Disgusting People On The Planet.
They leave their human waste soaked in bits of paper and expect someone else to clean up after them.
A smoker pulled up in the company carpark and proceeded to empty the cigarette tray on the tarmac. When they came back to their car at lunchtime all the dogends, and a few pieces of gravel, had been dumped on their windscreen.
Smoking is a subject that annoys me more than gents not lifting the seat, but not as much as not bothering to aim

I think the expected (by me anyway) gradual slide away from enforcement of anti - smoking legislation has started. I know of a large bar which is now allowing smoking in it's large "conservatory" which adjoins the main building, has 3 walls and a roof, and is connectd by an always open double doorway to the main bar. I would guess that the proprietor must have had a nod from the local police that they won't enforce the law.

While I'm in the mood, another little story about smokers. In 1990 we camped at a site in Argeles with our children. The previous occupants of the pitch must have been smokers because there were literally hundreds of discarded cigarette ends all over it. They were impossible to clear up properly. Why do some smokers think that a cigarette end is not litter??

You have no idea what bugs the a/hole that dropped it is carrying around and leaving on soaking bits of paper.
I had the misfortune to work in an office with a chain smoker, summer came he opened the window for fresh air and I got bathed in his stink.
I loudly proclaimed I would be bringing in joss sticks to burn at my desk from the following Monday. The dept mgr imposed a no smoking rule in our office and the guy went next door to an office that had no ban
I never realised how potent just the threat of a joss stick could be.

I don't think you will ever reconcile the hardened smoker and the ardent anti - smoker (me). However there is a fundamental moral principal on my side - whereas I don't cause any harm to the smoker, he does physically harm and inconvenience me.

Why do they have to smoke by the entrance doors?
So everyone entering a building has to walk through a cloud of smoke.

one arguement was that they used to gather by the main entrance, visitors had to wade thru dogends and push through them to get into the building.
soon put a stop to that.
as it was in my gift they all got moved to behind the rubbish skips.
but never been able to understand how they can stand there and watch a metal buttbin smoking by itself without reporting it to someone. only when flames came out of it did they think there might be something wrong.

Smoking is for outside, not inside, it's not rocket science, anyone smoking indoors should be hung drawn and quartered. Ask him to stop.
