Rugby Matt,

Given your name wondered if you could help me with a query. Why do rugby fans sing swing low sweet chariot at matches? Or does anyone else Know.

I have googled it, answers I have found ranging from, its the easiest song to remember when under the influence, to something to do with Chris Oti in a match in 1998.

My OH has been comissioned to write a rugby world cup style anthem, and any insider knowledge would be welcome......

Not that I ever sing it but I think it comes from the Hash House harriers, it was a hymn they sang at games and was then sung at an England game i9n the '80's when England started to play better in the match or something.

My teams anthem goes more like this.
