Sky hd box set up help requested
I just set up a new hd box & have added the strong channels manually.
Anyway, when I try & access the manually added ones I get a PIN protected screen. The Sky card is registered to me at my UK home but I can't remember ever getting a PIN & on the old non HD box there wasn't the PIN protection.
Is there anyway of overriding the PIN or is there a default PIN.
Also, is there a BBC2 HD & where is it?
Maybe 1 for the Guy but anyone with an answer is v welcome as I see the strong ITV channels are better than ITV HD.
Thanks all.

Haven't you got to have an HD contract or are the channels you mention, FTA?

I don't know why it is asking for a PIN but the PIN is normally the last 4 digits of your original card.
No, there is no BBC2 HD but I understand that it is coming soon to replace the original BBC HD channel.

Re: Sky hd box set up help requested
thanks all, I tried the last 4 digits of my sky card & no success. I am sure I never changed it so will have to call sky next UK visit to reset.
anyway, I tried playing with parental controls & still can't access the manually input strong channels.
shame, I now have BBC1 HD but lost ITV! think I prefer the new set up though.
Thanks for your help so far

Also, you keep referencing the manually added strong channels, but what about your default ITV channel on 103, are you saying you can't get this at all?

Re: Sky hd box set up help requested
Not all ITV channels are FTA. Many people have difficulty receiving their default ITV channel and use another, stronger, regional channel which may not be FTA therefore it requires a Sky card in the box.

Hi Fred, that's why I asked about reception of the default channel.

Re: Sky hd box set up help requested
new sky hd and sky+hd boxes come with parentla controls enabled.
this does stop the accessing of "other channels" of the restrictions are turned off.
the pin is, unless it has been changed by the user, is the alst 4 digital of the sky contracts ORIGINAL card number. it may not be the last 4 digits of your current card.
but, all you need is to find someone who has a sky card and who knows thier pin, pop it into your box, turn off the parentla controls, take their card, out, put your card in , and the restrictions will be lifted, as the restrictions are box not card limited
Changes of BBC HD to BBC2 HD are "under consultation"...
most ITV1 regions are free to air - just those on freq 12480 are free to view and require a sky card. but if you add any other itv1 regions to your other channels, then you need a sky card in the box to access that "other channels listing.

Re: Sky hd box set up help requested
I have no audio on my BBC streams through my non subscription Sky box.
I have tried changing to a different language to no avail. Any other suggestions?
Thanks

Sometimes that can be as simple as a loose scart cable and not down to the box at all - or do you have sound on the other channels?
