Although people often say "I cannot understand the Irish/Scottish/Welsh accent, it is an exaggeration. The same applies in Spain with regional and South American accents, if the level of Spanish is good, they will understand whatever accent the speaker has. |

If a person has a good command of English then any accent will not be a problem.

My English is as good as it gets and my accent is more or less neutral - most people don't manage to guess where I come from in England. So if these two ladies had difficulty with my accent it certainly wasn't my fault. |

Have you tried having a conversation with say someone with a strong accent say from Wigan? Often I think regional accents are more difficult.
