Nice to know sales are growing in the UK.
I would say it's not very popular on the Costa Blanca but I know down south it is quaffed everywhere...

Hola
If "down south" you mean the Sherry triangle of the Cádiz region, then yes an ice cold Fino on a hot day is wonderful. In the winter then the sweeter sherries are drunk but after a meal, then for me it's Pedro Ximenez - just the one to round off the meal

In the '70s I worked for Harvey's in Bristol.
Back then the scale of the operation was huge - a bulk carrier plying continuously between Jerez and the UK south coast, a fleet of road tankers between there and Bristol, a tank farm the size of an oil refinery and at that time the fastest bottling lines in the UK.
Now - nothing.

...its diverse regions with their own authentic cultures.
Could not agree more.
Here (Alicante) a typical bar breakfast is toast with tomato (served with the tomato flesh on the toast) I asked for it in PIcos de Europa, received an odd look from the waitress and was served toast with a whole tomato cut into quarters! Oh well, travel broadens the mind even within Spain.

I'm partial to a glass of Sherry or Port, they go so well with various foods and IMO are overlooked these days
Sherry and Gin make a mean 'Martini'
