Default Setting up a Telefonca email account.

I am not sure if anyone can help us, but we are trying to set up an email account with Telefonica.
We are still on dial-up as at this moment in time, we do not have ADSL in our village.
We get so far in setting up the account, but when we test it, the account is rejected. And, before anyone asks, we have other email accounts, but we need a Telefonica email account.
We have tried to email '[email protected]', but we have messages returned to say 'bad destination mailbox address' and 'no such user'.!!!
We do not normally have problems but on this occasion we do.
Is there something we are not doing correctly?
Regards
Richard and Lucienne

Being typically Spanish, they have a dollar sign in the account name instead of @.

It should be set up as.... account name joebloggs$telefonica.net

But your email address needs an @ [email protected]

I believe that Telefonica no longer provide free e-mail accounts for dial-up users, I will check their website though. Perhaps your best option would be something like mailshack, who provide free POP3 email addresses, which is still much better than a webmail account.

Tim

edit! It looks as if the dial up account e-mail is handled through Terra.es which is part of Telefonica!
