#1
Hello everyone.
I am moving over to Calahonda on the 8th January. I am stuck on paying my taxes etc when there. I run an internet based business what i will be running from Spain. Is it a simple process for me to run my company over there and pay into the system etc, Or have i got a headache coming on haha. Do i need to register the business in Spain or what at complete loss.
Some advice from people who have been in the same position please. Simple terms as well please so i can understand it myself.
Regards
John

Hello John,
To be self-employed in Spain requires registration with the following official bodies.
* Registering for IVA (VAT).
* Registration with local tax office.
* Registration as self employed with the Social Security.
* Registration of any workers you may have with the Social Security.
* Preparation of Licencia de Apertura (only if you have premises).
In Spain you are required to be registered for IVA (VAT) from the beginning there is no threshold as in the UK, you will also need to pay your monthly contribution to the Seguridad Social every month, even if you haven't earned anything in a particular month.
That should get you started.
Best regards
David

How does one unemployment benefit in Spain? What qualifies you for it? We will be rendered out of work as the hotels close for winter and need to claim.

The amount of social security contribution for autonomo for 2007 is set at 29.8% or, 26.5% of the amount you choose to declare depending on whether you select temporary incapacity protection or not.
The maximum and minimum contribution levels for workers 50 or under are set between 801.30€ and 2996.10€.
Therefore a worker under 50 years old declaring 801.30€ would pay 29.8% or 238.78€ per month. This figure is variable depending on your personal circumstances and allowances.
Best regards

Hello,
I am in a similar situation as john1979. I moved to Spain (Canary Islands) and I want to move here my Internet based business.
First of all I was thinking to register as self-employed, but the problem is that I don't want to use my name and surname as company name.
What about S.L.? How much Seguridad Social should I pay if I register a S.L (without any workers)? Should I pay it even I don't earn anything?
Thanks.
