Default Scots couple in town. Narcea, Asturias.

Hallo all, we have just bought a lovely old house near Cangas de Narcea. Although our language is improving - it would be a great relief if we knew that there was someone, already established in our area, to help us initially - we hope to be out by the summer. Thanks in advance.

We're planning on visiting Asturias again in the summer. A little village inland near Llanes where we've been several times before. There are a few English-speaking expats up that way - do a search on this board, but you're not going to find many. Keep your ears and eyes open and put yourself about a bit is probably the best way of finding out any that are around your area.

Hope you enjoy yourself there.

Hi, we're new to Asturias too, having just moved here two months ago from Dunfermline. We're English (but don't let that put you off). We're a fair drive away from you in Gijón. We were very lucky - our agent has been very good and arranged a lot of stuff for us but I can advise a little.

Cheers, Graham

Hi, - thanks for your encouraging words. We visited Llanes in the Autumn - a lovely place. Maybe next time we can meet up for lunch by the harbour.
I am still my ship in Orkney just now - surrounded by 2 feet of snow - Asturias is becoming more appealing by the second.
Hope to see you sometime. Best regards.

Hi Graham, thanks for replying. I am originally from Fife but don't hold that against me either. We were also pretty lucky, I had a great solicitor in Oviedo who couldn't have been better. My concerns are of a more basic nature - probably just worrying needlessly - because of the move and the unknowns.
It's good to know there are Brits, like yourself, fairly close by.
I am still at work just now - on a ship running out of Orkney - where believe me it is Baltic.
I'll drop you another line once I'm home.

Thanks and best regards
Elliot
