Hi, we already have a house in southern spain, which we have been using for holidays. We would now like to move there permanent but we need an income, we've thought about renting out scooters, as its not possible to rent them in our area, ( plenty of car hire) we thought about 5 to start with, any info/knowledge would be a great help, thanks, barcat.

Don't know what area, but my observations would be: great fun however they don't have a good reputation re: Spanish youngsters, no helmets, etc., and please if you go ahead, ensure you're insured with a capital I. Oh, and read all the posts & threads re moving to Spain without a secure income!

I don`t think rental on 5 scooters would even pay the shop rental, then you have, social security, a mountain of licences, insurances, etc.
Then you need the punters, probably why there are no hire shops there.

You will face one major problem, insurance, IF you can find any the cost will make it unviable ,this why you rarely see scooter hire in Spain ,it works out cheaper to hire a car when the insurance is paid,
