Are the shops and banks open over santa semana, thanks in advance,

Not in Albunol and surrounding area they are not open, the local small shops do open for bread etc first thing then shut shortly after, builders merchants etc are all shut.

We are on The Costa Tropical so may be different elsewhere.

they don't shut for the entire week, though I seem to remember that last year the supermarkets had a half day on the Saturday

In Semana Santa I wouldn't count on much from Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th inclusive (which includes Good Friday, of course).

Monday 17th (Easter Monday in the UK) is not a public holiday in Murcia, but is in Cataluña, Comunidad Valenciana, La Rioja, Navarra and País Vasco.

Cataluña doesn't get the 13th as a public holiday.

Thanks for replys arriving late 12th looks like we'll have to do a late shop on the Tues, and sort everything else, post, bank etc on Monday.

our Mercadona is open til 1.30 Thursday then closed til the Tuesday

Thanks for that, had wife a bit worried, theres a large Mecadona in Cieza we normally use, will try to stockup there thursday morning.

In the marbella area, Mercadona is closed 2.30 thursday afternoon and all day Friday. El Corte Ingles is open except for Sunday and La Canada Shopping Centre.
