The first year I went to live in the village I last lived in in Lancashire (in 1977) we had a Lancashire League cricket match snowed off in June! I couldn't believe it, I'd never seen snow before like we got there, although I came from a town only 40 miles away.

I'm not surprised your friends from Spain found it too warm indoors - I always do now when visiting relatives if they have their central heating on, I feel sleepy and as though I can't breathe. I sleep with the window open too, even in winter, when I'm there.

(btw they're graven images - craven means something entirely different).
