I used to watch him play at the Goldstone ground when I was 12 or 13. He was part of the team that took Brighton to th 83 cup final. Always had a smile on his face. Happy memories.

When I lived in Madrid I occasionally bumped into Michael socially; he was always cheerful and showed the rest of us expats how to integrate into the Spanish way of life, including mastering the language, which he spoke much better than he let on.
