Ryan air, have said that they will not pay the expenses of stranded passengers, due to the volcano.
I just wondered if you click on the insurance while booking a flight with them does that still stand.
When you book insurance is automatically included but then, most folks unbook the insurance, and before the final transaction is made, the site asks again if you are sure that you dont want insurance.
In the case of contracting ryanair insurance that would change the situation,

I agree in this case, according to the newspapers most insurances are not paying out though
I think you are right...air fares will rise. I also read that about 10 airlines have got together and are going to sue the government...we will still pay anyway

Hi
I think that for "an act of god" the cheap airlines should not be made to pay; they do what it says on the tin "cheap as chips".
Scheduled services may be different but I do not think that if it is beyond their control, that airlines should pay.
If it is a holiday (packaged), then to have to stay in the same hotel with the same food agreement may have a case (i.e. if you got B&B then B&B only not extra meals).
Davexf (And I don't care if you disagree with me)

For instance, if something like this continued for quite a while, small airlines could be made completely bankrupt through absolutely no fault of their own, and in the long term it would be Joe Public who would suffer from the loss of their services.
