Default Ryan Air to pull out of Murcia

I heard that O'Leary has fallen out with Murcia Airport Authority and is threatening to cease all flights to/ from there.

He has already cancelled the Glasgow Prestwick flights from this month.

Is that because he tried to blackmail them as he did with Valencia and they have said no?

He must have an agenda as far as Spain is concerned because every Ryanair flight I have taken in the past 12 months to or from Valencia was full so it cannot be lack of customers wanting to go there. I have never got a return ticket (no extras) under 100 pounds either in some instances have paid nearer 200 pounds return.

Lets face it Ryanair fly to all sorts of obscure places at much low prices with planes half full, so why cut the Spanish flights?

Probably landing fees,ATC fees, airways fees, refueling etc take the profit out of it, and being Spain there`s bound to be a few officials wanting brown enevelopes passed discrectlyWhen it comes to business Spain is very good at shooting itself in the foot.

Generally he chooses obscure airports/airfields an hour or more out of the city he advertises.
He gets advantageous landing fees, and in return these obscure places look on the deal as their big chance to get on the map and make it into the bigtime.
However in the case of Valencia he lands at the city and has to pay big city prices.
Now has anyone got a nice flat piece of land going spare, within 50 km.of Valencia ?

Last time I read anything concerning Ryanair and Valencia..........

Ryanair demanded that the local govt paid him 12 million euros to continue to fly from other countries to Valencia plus he wanted to take over internal routes operated by (I cant remember the Valencia operators name).

AFAIK he has taken over the internal routes but because he didnt get 12 million he slashed flights from outside Spain to Valencia. So for people who live in the Midlands and north there are no flights from end of October to beginning of April.

As for paying high fees, he doesnt. He has the last (worst) parking bay from the terminal, no stairs, only rickety metal job built into the plane so no
use of air bridge. Sun or rain the conditions are appalling for the traveller.

Or Corvera airport at the other side of Murcia. He always said he would pull out of San javier (Murcia) and move to Corvera when or if it opened.

Ryanair have pulled out of Murcia's San Javier airport for the time being, that is winter flights to 7 UK airports, they are still flying into Dublin and Stansted. The reason being that they could not reach a deal with the Murcian government. Air Berlin are also pulling out of San Javier for the same reason.

Easyjet have also stopped flights from Murcia - hopefully only for the winter although I don't know why they stopped completely because the flights were always really busy. We are travelling from Alicante but the flights are very expensive.

We must not forget Ryanair is a business and has no obligation to take anyone anywhere ,if it was not for O`leary youd have to use the likes of BA Probably 400 quid round trip peak season

Or use another low cost airline perhaps like Easyjet? Ryanair have just been the more successful of the low cost operators that sprung up in the last 15 years. If memory serves me right they all learnt from the example of south west airlines in the US, but were able to capitalise on the introduction of the web. Remember the likes of Go!, Debonair, ClickAir, FlyBMI (who may be still going) ?

Thats what the little man would have you believe.

The round trip fares for my family to USA was cheaper than the round trip Ryan fares to VALENCIA this summer.

That's because its peak time, supply and demand.

I pay over £300 for return trips between UK and Spain regularly, I cant afford to lose time by flying in the middle of the night. Its also more expensive if close to Easter, Xmas or in August. And expecially if you want to go on a Monday or Friday at a reasonable time.

Its only cheap to fly off peak and off season
