when we were looking for a villa in denia (which sadly didnt happen, due to not being able to sell ours in valencia) we had a bit of a view quandry.
our apt down there is perfectly situated for bars, shops and beach (2mins) but with no view, other than the montgo in the distance and the comm. gardens and pool. on the flip side, we have friends that live on the montgo slopes overlooking denia, and the views are breathtaking! absolutely gorgeous, but too far away? being social beings, we just couldnt decide whether it was better to have the view, and have to drive everywhere, or be right down in amongst it, and have everything at your doorstep........
my father in law lives in a coastal town in the uk, overlooking the beach and bay. i can sit there for days just staring out to sea, watching the world go by. i love it. but then, where he is, is a 5 min stroll to the local, the yacht club (not for me, for him) and the shops, so he has the best of both worlds. well, except the weather

At some point it should be feasible (maybe it is already) to have a screen on your wall showing a view from an internet webcam in say the Himalayas or a Norwegian fjord or Yosemite national park.
