Hello there!
I've got this idea that I want to roadtrip through Spain, having heard many stories about Europe and Spain in particular. The problem is, I'd go alone and I'm not too keen on going through all the hassle of managing the transportation and setting up itineraries.
Basically, what I'm looking for is an arranged roadtrip through Spain, hitting the big cities and perhaps even some festivals. I'm thinking of going somewhere in June, and the cities I'm thinking of are Valencia, Seville, Barcelona and Grenada.
Do you guys know of any agencies who arrange such trips, or something similar to it? What cities do you recommend I visit, and what sights must I see? Any tips are greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure what you are after actually
Why don't you just hire a car and drive around? With Google maps and a bit of information at the tourist offices and city council websites that should be fine
I've never heard of an organised tour of the whole country, and if there were one, they would probably be pensioners

Hey Cricketman,
Thanks for replying. I'm not really comfortable driving in a foreign country, as I'm still quite inexperienced. And figuring out a schedule with public transport, sightseeing, food and accommodation goes over my head.
And you're not alone in never having heard about an organised tour, that's why I'm asking!

Can't you use a site like Meetup.com to find others interested in doing a tour like this?

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.
Please let me know if you need any further help.

As you are not comfortable driving in a foreign country, the easiest plan might be to join an organised coach or rail tour. There are many such starting in the UK or in Spain. I would suggest you visit your local travel agent or contact a reputable operator.

The only tour I have heard of is a motor home /land rover type tours. They run 3 types of tour in Andalusia. Not the run of the mill type holiday at all though.

Just arrive with a smart phone or tablet and jump on the first available transport going anywhere.
Use the internet to research the destination and a site like Bookings.com to sort out accommodation. Food, easy there are plenty of cafes and restaurants.
I am planning ( or lack of planning ) something similar for the West Coast of USA in May although I will hire a car for transport and have a vague itinerary.
I did New England in this way last September.

Assume you mean Granada and not Grenada - the latter is an island in the Caribbean. Mind you I have heard Grenada is beautiful too. I once had a parcel sent from the UK arrive via Grenada - think the postman sent it to the wrong place as the address was correct.

The tour took in several areas and we met loads of interesting people and loved every mile!!
Take a plunge phil and organise it yourself. Driving through Spain is OK once you've done a mile or two

You will thank yourself for making the effort.

I reckon Fred's hit the nail.
Public transport is quite cheap as are hotels and bars, restaurants. No need to plan much.

Whatever you end up doing I would recommend that you definitely include Valencia in your plans. It really is a beautiful city full of wonderful buildings with plenty to see and the people are warm and friendly too.

Hi,
I wrote by Spanish Biker blog specifically with this in mind as so many bikers were asking me for similar sorts of advice.
But you don't have to be a biker to follow the tips on driving, finding accommodation, the law, police, etc. and you can also follow some of my 'road trips' too
I agree totally with the above comment about driving in Spain - after a few minutes it's a doddle. So if you want to use your own car then get a ferry to either Santander, Bilbao or Gijón. The last may be the best for you because it's a small city and although I don't know it personally it appears that the ferry terminal/dockyards are quite apart from the city itself, so you can get out onto the open roads straight away.
The same would also apply to getting a budget flight to Oviedo airport and renting a car from there. Furthermore, Asturias and neighbouring Galicia are brilliant places to start exploring the country
