Riviera Del Sol - thoughts on this area
#1
Having failed to secure the home we wanted on Costa de La Luz due to the Martinsa Fadesa issue I am considering looking further afield where some bargains are to be had. I have been offered a 2 bed apartment/townhouse in the Riviera that looks lovely - only downside is no aircon. It is offered at 135k euros - is this a fair price for that area - it has only 1 bathroom but an extra loo. What is the area like - it is not a part of Costa del Sol that I know - I may go and visit but before I do I need to get a feel for the place an d the price.

It is a popular area, touristy. No centre except for shops. Not my cup of tea but everyone is different, some parts of it seems better than others.

Riviera Del sol yes its a popular area for the costa. Good beaches great location central for Marbella and fuengirola plus Malaga airport only 25 mins in the car.
One of the better areas to live on the coast.

Some information here:

I would say that the main drawback is that in order to get anywhere you have to go down onto the N340 coast road although that is probably true of all of the urbanisations that border it.

Excellent hospitals a few K`s drive in either direction.
The road is not too bad if you keep clear of getting to and from work times.
I am sure one of the members on here lives there.

...and where the access slip road has a 'Stop' sign, and incredibly there are several, you become particularly proficient at Formula 1 type grid starts!!

As you say that is true, but after pulling out into the traffic from the junctions half a dozen times you become a proficient Spanish driver. lol

They can only say no and if they do up it a bit later, but they will probably bite your hand off.

Its a nice area, A7 (n340) is dead easy to get on and off. La Cala is just a few minutes away, lovely little town esp off season, close to beaches, marbella, shopping centre (la canada). Offer a lower price, see what they say, people are desparate to sell at the mo.

I moved to Riviera when I first moved to Spain over two years ago. Of course it depends quite where you are but I was firstly up near the "commercial centre" and then after a few months moved up near the toll booths for the AP7.
Neither were great places in my opinion but it depends what you want. It's wall-to-wall Brits, overpriced and there's no heart to the place. You have to drive everywhere and I felt totally isolated there. If you have a family/happy to stay at home then fine.. for me, on my own, it was dreadful

Hi Carol,
Riviera isnt too bad, obviously the position of it is pretty ideal as it is bang inbetween marbella and fuengirola. although as some people say, the n340 is a bit like a grand prix, you also have the toll road with its entrance in calahonda but easily accesible via the top of Riv... as to riviera itself, it has a large supermarket at the bottom of the hill and another at the top, both places have a couple of good bars and some nice restaurants notably the indian at the top of riviera. there is also a half decent golf course that is reasonably priced...someone mentioned the beaches...must say never rated the beach there, too full of rocks and not very wide so always seems to be overcrowded! but on the other side of the coin, only 5 mins away from cabopino which i would rate as one of the best beaches in that area. with regards to the price, someone else got it bang on, look nonplussed, offer a bit less and see what happens, the way things are going there if you made a half decent offer the seller would be moronic not to take it!!! wish you all the best carol

Not sure it is goer as cannot easliy get out there and I suspect it will go quickly. However, it may be provides an indication of what might be available.

Most estate agents I know will not give out exactly where a property is, as they see people as time wasters, sorry not meant personally, just may be why you are not getting ful details. Maybe someone in the area can wonder into see an agent
