It's very quiet at Hoyo 19 at the moment and we are going over to support. We are in Marina Esuri opposite so can see what's going on. It would be nice to see some members of this forum joining us if able to. Sue ;)

Hello you two

I feel the 19 Hole has a good chance of surving if there is some solid structure in place.

They need consistent opening times and some regular events even if it is just once a month.

We were over in April and couldn't work out when or if they were open. Hence we never got to have drink or some food in there.

They have a notice board at the shop to promote what is going on, they just need to organise things a bit better.

We are back over in July and hope there is reason to go to the 19 hole and support them, so fingers crossed they get things a bit more inviting...

I got back last Friday after spending another week on Costa Esuri and spent about 5 of my 7 nights at Hoya 19. Every meal was delicious especially the monk-fish and langoustines. The drinks are reasonably priced too. I was never there when it was Jags bar but I hear that it was great. Hopefully with a bit more support and the weather getting warmer it will get the crowds back in.

Hi totally agree we live directly opposite and when it has an event it is buzzing. We will always support it when we can. Just needs a little more advertising x

Does anyone know if you can just go for a drink and listen to the music? I have seen a small poster for this in the shop but no marketing to let people know what's going on. Even their own facebook page has nothing about this.

You certainly can. However, sometimes he says that most of the tables are reserved for eaters and that drinkers can only use the side tables or round the back (not the ones in the shade). That kinda annoys me - we used to go down for a drink and decide if we wanted to stay for a meal - somehow I find it less than welcoming. I understand the commercial reasoning behind it but it's not very customer friendly.

I think that last phrase sums up my opinion of the whole operation, "not very customer friendly". But I'll give it another try. And, like you, I would like to be able to decide if I want to stay to eat after a couple of drinks.

Kia Ora from me in New Zealand.

*plonks herself down*

I'm just back from an early evening out to see a film in the Gecko followed by an Indian up the road. That would be the one place to eat in Motueka

Believe me, eating out is no mean feat really and it is all over by 9pm. Total . About 100 GBP. No entertainment unless you mean the RSA Return Servicemen Club.

So. I'm having a BE stroll around the place. Seems like Ayamonte is not short of places to eat , drink and be entertained. No?

Maybe, but would love an Indian locally!

We have just got back from having lunch there. Very good value at 8.50 for two courses plus a drink. However, we were disappointed that the live 70s and 80s music had to be cancelled because of objections from the neighbours :-(

We tried to have lunch there for about two weeks. We eat early say 12.30 most days but it always seemed closed. Passed again last Thursday and again looked closed with no board outside but a gap in the gate. Got to the next corner when in my rear view mirror a van which had just passed us towing a trailer stopped and I could see Carlos talking to the driver. So reversed back and asked were they opening? Yes. Could we take lunch? Yes. Inside, at the door or on the terrace? Wherever! OK we parked by which time the trailer was being wheeled in we walked in behind popped in the entrance and the chef was just lighting the ovens so we again said could we eat? Yes. We settled for the terrace and settled for the poolside so that I could observe the work being undertaken! Carlos came up and raised the shutters then asked for drinks order. At last we were underway probably 13.00 so maybe we were a bit early for them. The spaying was to control ants so did not interfere with us. We chose the "menu" which was a drink followed by salad and the main today salt cod and rice. The salad was excellent the rice perfect and the salt cod tender and well rinsed so overall a lovely cheap lunch. We enjoyed very much and Carlos mellowed and talked more than I have known. I just think he is naturally shy. Manolo appeared and mucked in serving the next table of four and agin was friendly so we thought things are looking what with th excellent young man doing the chef'ing and mine hosts being as good as they can.

As we were leaving we asked about the advertised Saturday meal with music at 2 pm only to be met by crestfallen faces and thumbs down "next door" had denounced them to the Town Hall and they had to cancel!!! So it's happening all over again and Hoya 19 will not survive on a few mid-day diners and a few sports bar events inside. Evening dining will help since the chef is so good but if Manolo is not allowed to have the odd crowd pleaser he is going to struggle.

I have seen the neighbour taking morning coffee with the Mayor in Laguna square so perhaps a change of Mayor at the end of the month might help and that is very likely to happen this time which would be good for Esuri all round.
