For everyone that has written about / enjoyed a meal at Ze da Tasca in Rio Seco, we went there today only to find that it had closed down.

There was a notice in the window saying that they had moved and they are now on the N125 in Altura. They have taken over the premises formerly called O Caseiro and only opened yesterday.

It was very busy today and as it is a bigger place they are able to serve more people. Because they have only just opened they have not had a chance to print menus in English version yet so a good opportunity to practice your Portuguese!

Sad that they left Rio Seco, but it makes sense to go to the old Ocaseiro premesis on the 125. Wesaw last week that they were renovating O Caseiro. I hope they are still doing the great steak, served with carving knife, fork and board!!

We went there yesterday and had the steak for 2 26 Euros, organic meat from Alentejo and delicious. Ashamed to say we couldn't finish it! It was delicious - but just too much!

They have a daily menu of either fish or meat with desert, coffee and drink for only 8 euros.... yesterday it was mixed grill and it was a LOT!

VERY friendly the chef 'Ze' who the resto is named after came out to check we were happy as did the excellent head waiter Ebillio (sp) who speaks great Engish and French, and we recognised from O Infante where he worked before. The house red (in a bottle) was very nice and the house red in a carafe was also quaffable too.

Highly recommended.... one of the top 5 price/quality restos in the area IMO. And great service too. I wish they had found the golf club!

Hi Acko. We are all as keen as you for this to open and the day it is announced there will be a bunch of posts here I'm sure. There is about a week or 2 of work left .... the town hall is slow in permissions (as ever) but he hopes to open before Easter.

Now that sounds like a good menu for lunch in early April when the sun is shining and the birds are singing!
