I saw the smileys,

I agree it is nice to have choices that's why we like living here. we spend a lot of time driving between Spain and Portugal
Have you tried O Caseiro which is near Infante.
Menu Del Dia Mon-Fri 8e
The owner speaks English and we now know him so well he will even cook me something not even on the menu, I like his fish stews.

Sue

Hi Sue, its one of our favourites, and the reason we tried it was because there's always a lot of cars parked there and across the road.... always a good sign. Ive also recommended it on this forum before.

However we didnt know the owner spoke English... every time we are there we stumble about in ordering.

The staff there are really nice people, and always remember us. So its nice to go in there and feel welcome. Before they had a waitress that spoke French so we could discuss the menu.... but we've never got as close to the staff as you have. Well done! Great find and only about 15 mins from CE.

We all live in a great corner of the world... with LOTS of choices, and to have 2 countries on the doorstep - just makes it super special. I love telling friends that the closest resto to CE is in Portugal!!! Another country... (well it will continue to be so until Jag opens his resto.)

That is Luis' place in Monte Francisco - Maestro Romulo. Lunch menu 3 courses with wine 7.50!! Amazing - we go there every week because at that price its hard to cook at home!........

We are very fortunate!!

Jon

Great postings with all the resto info, I put the recommendations in our visitors book and people really appreciate it so thanks for the ideas.

What has happened at Jag's then on CE as an earlier post said there was no electric on - any info ?

Hi Jon, just to let you know Luis has changed the name of his restaurant it is now a mix of his name, his wife's name and their family name but the actual word escapes me (age related I think) So next time we are there I will make a note of it. Regards Bryony

Thanks for the directions Sue. We'll give it a go. Have you also tried it in the evening? And has anyone tried the one next to O Infante?

Hi Andy

We tried it once; wasn't bad but not particularly memorable - except they forgot to bring us the starters we ordered. :( Lots of jollity ensued. :o:thumbsup: Will have to give them another go.:fingerscrossed:

No! I am sure he has paid his dues. However if you are on 3 phase like us thats 3x the chance of something going wrong. It did for us and they took 6mths to find someone had planted a tree through the cable just down the road!!!!

7euros each! self service buffet style 3 courses and self service wine too. Only slight problem! I think it was Spains answer to Saga and one needs to be a pensioner to fit in.

After the wonderful meal at Calico Park yesterday we thought we check out the Barcelo. No way would they do us a lunch at €7 pp It was €15 each take it or leave it so we left. We are Saga qualified but that did not seem to count. It may just be that it is now summer here and we were a few days to late still there is always next year!
