Default Residency question

Hello
i am confused. I have an appointment for residency this month but my employer now says I don’t need it as I have a social security number through them. Does anyone know if this is true?
Also if it is how does my wife claim residency as she does not work.

Thanks

Put simply, your employer is wrong.

They may not require it but the law does.
