Depends where you looking at, like the UK the price varies depending on where you live, in Almeria it is cheaper than Malaga, living inland is cheaper than by the coast so it is a little bit like how long is a piece of string.

Decide where you want to be, take a good honest look at your budget and then see what is available, it changes all the time as it is very much a supply and demand thing, at the moment there is a glut of properties so rentals are cheaper than they have been for many years. Take a look at the property sites like kyero.com.

Ahhhh I see, In all honesty you can ask what ever you want, whether you would get it is another matter but the same applies depends where it is more than anything, is it coast or inland, does it have any land with it.

But as a renter we are in a 4/5 bedroomed house with 2 bathrooms, several storage buildings and 6,000m2 plot of land in Alhaurin which is inland Malaga and we pay 500e a month but there are properties around the area for 800/900e a month but then they have been empty for a long time.

Really you need to ask yourself what you want for it or what you need to get to cover any costs but the more expensive it is the longer it may be empty, if your reasonable then you have a better chance.
