I am usually very positive in my posts regarding Spain and train travel - the high-speed trains and low fares are fantastic IMO and of course now there is competition with Iryo and Ouigo.
However, last Sunday I returned from Vigo to Madrid (and onwards to Alicante via normal AVE service) on an Avlo service which did not have a cafeteria (this I believe is normal, part of the low-cost experience). The vending machines (which do not have coffee) would not function. So we had to endure a 4-hour journey with no refreshments, which I think is frankly unacceptable.
No wonder Avlo has been withdrawn on some lines

Just flagging this up so if you travel Avlo I suggest you take a picnic!

Avlo is supposed to be Renfe's answer to Ouigo and Iryo and is a low cost Ave. I suppose they've decided that people who travel on the Madrid-Barcelona line can afford to push the boat out a bit more.
