Default removing glue and stickers

Not the most interesting thread but can anyone give advice on how to remove the glue and stickers on new toilets etc.

And also care on parquet flooring

.....and remains of grout and plaster which is everywhere.

Our new house has never been lived in and theres quite a bit of cleaning need to get rid of everything being powdery.

Thanks.

For most stickers etc. we use non sticky sticky stuff remover! On sinks etc., just use water and a scourer. Similarly, grout and plaster will come off with water and a scraper/scourer.

Parquet flooring - no idea unless you can get the product mentioned earlier.

I'm not 100% sure it will work, and please be careful if you try it, but the stickers on the loo might come off if you warm them up with a hair dryer first. Hope it works for you. A good soak with a damp cloth should do it too Try scratching them first so damp can get under them..

The problem of sticky residue left after stickers etc are removed is easily solved. Use the disolvente in a cylindrical red tin about 8 or 9 inches high.

It contains toluene, so minimise the time that you breathe the fumes or get it on you skin. Wash it off asap. However, it will shift the sticky residue in a flash. It will also remove pine tree resin, paint, and the glue that is left behind when you peel the labels off bottles.

WD40

And also care on parquet flooring
Do you mean care off ?, in that case tepid water on a damp mop works well once its clean

.....and remains of grout and plaster which is everywhere.
For the big bits of grout a scraper, other than that a rough dry piece of cloth

Our new house has never been lived in and theres quite a bit of cleaning need to get rid of everything being powdery.
Keep on mopping & mopping and........

Thanks.

For removing the glue and stickers just rub with some cooking oil, it works most of the time but not always.

toluen.very similar to celulose.ahhh the good old old days.celly paint and few whiffs of acetylene before you lit the torch.
some stickers come off with water some do not.for those who are not experianced this is an impotant tip.if your using any solvents especialy acetone.keep the solvent soaked cloth on the floor when not in use.solvents affect certain material.you may find for example.it will remove the sticker off ceramics and if the cloth is used on another surface it may melt it.

The point is, it's an effective solvent and leaves surfaces clean and free from sticky residue.

Be careful on glass. I scratched a glass door quite badly in my haste to remove a sticker. If in doubt soap water and elbow grease.

I always use clear 90% alcohol to remove the sticky residue of stickers from just about everything including books.

You need to be careful. That's basically acetone, which is a useful solvent to have to hand. However, it will remove finish on some plastics.

It also isn't as good as disolvente for resin or that glue they use on some stickers.
