Relocating to Lanzarote..your experiences please!!
After years of searching for the right place,we have decided to move to Lanzarote in the next 18months or so.
We have a plan to buy a small business or rent a small retail unit.
We have a young son and a cat
I am able to find loads of info on how to do it and what steps to take, but not much info on people's own experiences.
Has anyone done this move and how is it going ??
Any advice welcome, thanks so much

Hi and welcome to the forum. I do not know of how many posters live in Lanzarote. But questions about living there often come up.
But if you do a search on running a business and tax matters I am sure you will come up with answers about these as they are almost universal throughout Spain.

The only thing a can tell you is that Lanzarote is very small. Only 120,000 people live there, with 5,000 British residents (officially).
So if you are opening a business, make sure the people on the island want to buy whatever you are selling.
And of course it is a volcanic island which makes it rather desolate with little vegetation, though some people like that kind of thing

It is small, although we have tourists on the island every day than residents, so that means we punch well over our weight in business terms.
We moved here ten years ago and haven't ever looked back. We worked for other people initially and have since started and ran several businesses.
Our kids were young when we moved here, but are both grown up now as full-on Canarians, and I can't think of an environment that would have been better for them.
We lived initially in one of the resorts, but have moved further and further into rural areas and love being part of the local community in our village.
Happy to answer any specific questions here.
