Default Recommendations for Andalusian Abogado?

Hi!

My partner and I are a young couple relocating to Andalusia, from Australia, at the beginning of 2013. We are going to rent a place, probably around Cadiz, for the first couple months and will then be looking to purchase property.

After hearing a few horror stories about property purchases, I would like to try to make contact with a lawyer / solicitor who can guide us through the process well.

Can anyone recommend a Lawyer / solicitor / firm in Andalusia, who may be able to assist us?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much!

I have the name of a trustworthy abogado in Seville. He speaks very little English though.
I found him through a friend because he's a blues musician and so now he's a friend. Funnily enough my solicitor in England was also a Blues musician! Let me know if you want his contact details because I'd have to find them. We only speak on FB these days

I took it they meant Cadiz area since they are renting there, I surely would not buy there but then I don't need any extra stress. The number of illegal houses in that area is huge I believe.

Hi,

I agree with the 350,000 "illegal" houses in Andalucia. However there are various degrees of "illegal" so getting a good abogado that knows the system is vital. Lookout for words like "tolerated" "regulated" etc. I doubt they will demolish these houses, but they can come with "problems".

You can not do too much research and there has been a lot of articles wriiten that are available on the Web. The OP says they are going to rent initially (very good move) so they will have the opportunity to get first hand knowledge.

It's usually worth knowing as much or more than your expensive specialist. After all, it'll be your neck rather than his.

Hi Angiescarr,

Thanks very much for your reply and offer of your abogado contact. I fear that, because my Spanish is terrible, I may not be able to communicate effectively with your contact. If his details are easy for you to find, would you mind please forwarding them to me and I will do my best to explain our needs. If its a hassle, please don't worry. It is just so nice that you have gotten back to me. I really appreciate it!

Thank you for your words of warning, Capitans Wench. We are looking at buying in Cadiz, which is why I am looking for a very good lawyer.
