Actually, most of the "good", "honest" ones are German, but they're all fluent in English. The larger outfits such as First or Kuhn tend to offer excellent service but also are naturally, heavily profit-driven.

The smaller independents tend to be more interested in serving your needs and less interesting in forcing you into a more expensive solution, yet tend to be less inclined to jump at your every whim. Often at first, it can take a while to convince them to pay attention. But usually after the first meeting when they realise you're serious, they start to take you seriously and pay a lot of attention, actively seeking the solution you desire rather than focus on how to get you to accept the most expensive solution in their inventory.

There's always the direct route, too. Many owners advertise sale or rental properties direct, without an agent, on sites like segundamano, fotocasa, tucasa, etc...
