Re' Roads, What is the reason they do this?

We have a road running from our village to the next which is only used by local car owners, tractor drivers and the local bus. The potholes are so bad it takes many twists and turns to drive along this road without doing serious damage to a car.
So each year, the pothole filler man drives along, liberally chucking whatever he has to hand into the potholes. But he always does this about two minutes before the local bus comes along. Bad timing as the bus only runs twice a day, and back to square one.

Our main road from Alora to Antequera is in a horrendous state, it's an accident waiting to happen, it's been that way since the heavy rain during the winter of 2008 when large sink holes appeared.
So far all that has happened is they have chipped away the tarmac and thrown it over the bent and twisted armco....
I would hate to be a newcomer to the area drivind along that road at night!

Roads are controlled by different 'bodies' and it's difficult if not impossible to connect them logically. Thus, you won't find a roundabout connecting a well used local road with a national road. There has to be a strange bleed-off-to-the-left doodabby.
These are traditionally designed by the under-fives at the local school.

There are roundabouts and roundabouts. On the caretera Crevillente, from Torrevieja northwards, you pass through different municipalities and they seem to be competing with each other over the qualities of the roundabouts.
The Torre ones are magnificant works of art, giant ones with statues, clocks and fountains in the middle, the Los Montesinos ones are ugly and tiny and get uglier as you approach Quesada.
It's a question of money, I suppose, the town halls can't build big roundabouts if they're skint.

They build them in pairs, side by side, round my way,.. very confusing.
It's the only country where I've seen a simple T-junction turned into something akin to spaghetti junction.
I suppose the had to spend all that lovely Euro lolly on something.

we have a new wooden sign up proclaiming new road works on the main road to all the villages, ISTR (bus was travelling fast) it is €7m + change, funny that cos the last "roadworks" announcement is 1.5k down the road, its falling apart faster than the road, and the work never started.
Wonder if they paid the contractor who then went bust ??
still its ayunmiento money not ours
