It’s even worse than that, often the children were born in Spain and are moving to a foreign country. I pity them their first day in a playground in the UK. I know, I’ve been there.

Re: Radio 4 --- Repossessions in the Sun
According to a lot of the forums a lot of British children are bullied in spanish schools because they are guiris. They also suffer bad treatment from some spanish teachers. I read a post somewhere where the teacher called the British children english pigs! Suppose they will be a bit streetwise after that treatment.

Mind you, that good kicking on my first day, and several more after that, served me well, on the shelf behind me are cups for running and boxing, I wouldn’t have won any of them had I stayed where I was.
And the nightmares are receding with the passage of time. In fact the kids that seemed to have a hard time were the ones with freckles and red hair. I was totally in love with a girl called Maureen, she had red hair but she was never bullied, but most of the others were, as I recall. |

Everyone speaks English or English and Mexican?
Anyway, my own personal story is I've been picked on and bullied starting school in the U.S. because I didn't know English, I sympathize with those who have been there as well (not just limited to a foreign English speaking environment) |

[QUOTE=chrisfromusa;8094804]No such thing as Mexican, it's SPANISH :p QUOTE]
I know Americans (not you of course :) ) who live in Spain and tell me about all the Spanish who live in the US. When I explain they are most probably Mexican or Central American they look at me gone out. I then tell them that since Americans speak English they must be English  |

Re: Radio 4 --- Repossessions in the Sun
I will admit that we nearly bought an off-plan property in Elvira in 2006.
Thank God we didn't go through with it. We paid 6000 euros deposit and Thank God we got an independant lawyer (who got us our money back too). We were to pay the rest on completion but decided against it (actually got pregnant again so our little "accident" was a double bonus! I am so glad we didn't..or we would surely be trapped in the Sun too. I really feel for those who have bought and are stuck..could anyone imagine what is happening now, happening? Unbelievable and very unfair.. |
Re: Radio 4 --- Repossessions in the Sun
A report is Sur (Before the crunch) said that it was taking 3 to 4 years average to sell a property. I hate to think what it takes now:eek:
I know a few who have had property on sale for 2 years plus and one hasn't had a viewing despite slashing the price |

I know a few who have had property on sale for 2 years plus and one hasn't had a viewing despite slashing the price On the CDS the average salary is about 15k euros per year. If both in the couple are earning this is 30k euros. Which means they can get a mortgage of 120k euros. Which will currently get them a not very nice 1 bed flat. There are only so many people who have a spare half a million in the bank ready to splurge out on a Spanish villa |
