Dear all,
I have been working in Spain for few months and can't understand what the items that have been included in my Nomina stand for? Why am I paying for these? How come they have increased? I am told that the final net payment each months should be the same.
PLUS CONVENIO
PRORRATA PAGAS
MEJORA VOLUNTARIA
DTO. CONT. COMUES 4.70%
DTO. BASE ACCIDENTE 1.60%
RETENCION IRPF 12.00%
These have all increased 4 months after I started working for this company and then increased further in the last two months!! So I am not a very happy bunny. I would appreciate if you could shed some light as to what these are and why should they increase for no apparant reason.
Many thanks in advance

DTO. CONT. COMUES 4.70% i think is your social secutity. Again always around 4.5%.
You also have to do your tax returns every year before the end of July so you might get some back.

The company i work for pays me net. So dont get any of that stuff. Theyre probably pulling a fast one.

I get a fixed amount in the bank every month.

Employing people in Spain was expensive for companies, so it was generally excepted that 99.99% of companies pulled a fast one here, at least up until a couple of years ago anyway, many probably still do considering how difficult it is getting an IVA receipt from some of them.
Companies generally declared a 'lower' wage for the employee as reflected in their pay slip, then they made the wage up with cash. This way it was less social and tax to the company, and so making them more money.
Considering that many companies still look for back money on certain purchases! and other companies do not give out official receipts to millions of people every day here I can only guess that this still goes on a lot, and maybe then use the black money to make the wages up. Not pointing the finger at any companies of course... but the ones I am thinking of you probably all use practically every day

Prorrata Pagas: In Spain you are entitled to receive 2 extra payments per year. However this can be paid monthly on a pro-rata basis and included in your monthly pay instead.
Mejora Voluntaria: This is included by employers to make your pay appear greater than it is by increasing your level of cover in Social Security.
DTO. CONT Comunes: This is a deduction to cover part of your social security contributions.
DTO. Base Accidente: Is your social security accident cover.
Retencion: Is a retention made by your employer to pay your income tax. IRPF as it is known in Spain.
Hope this helps clear up your questions.

Many thanks to all of you for your help.
Wow! did not know I need to fill in my tax returns here?! Damn it! I still feel as if I am still on holidays .. :-)
Do you know how to go about doing this? where to downlaod the forms and where to send them etc?
What I am also considering is to bugger off somewhere else .. I ...sorry for my french:-) I mean change jobs and sort out all the nonsense before I sign any contract.
I was unable to work for a couple of weeks. I got the note from the GP and faxed it to my boss ...
When I got my pay slip I was shocked to read the final figure .. I spoke to the person dealing with the accounts etc .. I was told that I was paid only half or there abouts because of the days off I took ...
I never heard such non sense ... I asked to see some proof of this and they send me this paragraph which they probably copied and pasted from somewhere ...
Madness init?
So I am trying to find out if this is law or more rubish from my employer!! :-)
Thanks in advance and have a pleasant weekend.

It stated my wage would be 35,000 Euros, 50% from fixed income and the rest quoted from an average of the Malaga office performance, the bonus making the other 50%.
After a few months of earning 1,000 euros, it was clear something wasn`t right.
Aparantly nobody in Malaga earns more than 18,000 Euros, and he in 2007 retired after a heart attack.
Even the area Jefe of Andulucia dosn`t earn that.
But I have the written signed offer.
So, was the reply.
Oh and our convenio stated we`d work 8 hrs, the least I ever did was 11 hrs and I once finished work at 1 am after starting at 8am.
And didn`t get paid a cent extra.

The best you`ll get in Spain is to leave the job, you`ll never get recourse through the courts, they`ll just tie you up in paperwork.

Thanks again ...
Well the only reason I worked with this lot was because of my poor spanish and no knowlege of the system whatsoever ... I was quite glade I found a job after a couple of months of brilliant food, plenty of siesta and walk along the costa
... I heard of some bad stories of people who could not find any work for years, even the native .. I take exploitation seriously ..
My next contract will surely be different .. There is no way I would sign unless I am 100% sure no trick will be played
Have a nice evening and speak to you later.
