Hi All
Were back over in Spain soon. Still have the dream of a move after the dust settles from Brexit. Was wondering whats happening re property prices are they on the move up or down or no change. Also we would be looking at the less tourist sort off places. May be even inland.

All depends where you're looking!

We live inland - whilst properties are now starting to sell, the prices are not yet increasing.

The luxury sector is growing, so certain locations like Ibiza, Mallorca, Marbella and cities like Madrid/Barcelona will obviously not become cheap very soon. But if you look at the rest of Spain and Europe in general, people just don't have the money to buy holiday homes. If you are looking at the less touristy places, I wouldn't be worried. Unless Amazon or Google etc. are creating thousands of jobs, there's no reason why an inland area will see property prices increase.

It's not just the cost in Euros that should concern you but how many more pounds you now need to buy a property thanks to Brexit..

Thanks for the replies. To give you a rough idea of areas of interest Tarifa and West of there. Typical small village in the Zafra area. Also are the areas in and around National Parks expensive?. Will say we love it around Zafra but its a bit far from a beach so maybe some where like a place called Facinas a bit in land from Tarifa. Dont know why a beach comes into it as we never go to one in the UK (and we live by some of the best in the UK) but when were in Spain we go most days.

Don't agree 'people don't have the money to buy holiday homes...' in the Alicante province there are many French, Scandinavian, Russian and even a few Brits who have enough money to buy here for permanent/holiday homes. I would not say prices are racing up but along with rental prices, I think the prices are going up and we have a lot of new building projects in the region.

As said, it depends what type of buyer. The typical working class people who used to be able to save and managed to buy the 1 or 2 bed holiday apartments in Spain are currently non existent.
While 2018 was a great year for foreign buyers in general, you just have to look at the way things are going. The biggest group of foreign buyers are from Britain, Germany, France and with an economic downturn, what will happen? No doubt the luxury market is doing well, but the signs are all there.

As has been said properties are starting to sell but so far I have not seen prices going back anywhere near where they were pre crash. Certainly there is a lot of new builds going up again on the Costas

As with anywhere it really does depend on where the property is as to how the market is doing, where we are prices are very much on the increase and there seams to be plenty of buyers particularly from Holland and Germany as well as Swiss, Russian and French, they are building plenty of new Villas and they are selling well, a total contrast too 2009 when we purchased when everything was on hold.

One of our friends has just sold up and moved back to the UK, they had there property valued in 2014 and was told by 4 agents around €190,000 in the current climate, they sold a few months ago for €300,000 having changed nothing to a Dutch woman.

Just done had a quick look at some places (Tyre Kicking) and was amazed. On some of the property's did not look like they they had been tidied up and the agents really need how to take photos.
