Rosemary a great post and pics. I have always felt that so much of the response you provoke is down to you and your attitude. The Spanish unlike the French never seem to mind one mangling their language. The very lucid 82 year old mother of our Spanish friends, a bit of a dragon to them but all sweetness and charm to us announced that she is going to learn English for our next visit !!! Tongue in cheek I think...
With an early morning start last Sunday we didn't feel up to the big Buleria (Flamenco) event in the Plaza de Toros in Jerez last Saturday.. lots of amazing names, and it apparently is a real party, staring at 10 pm and lasting until 5 or 6. Next year. Jerez has a large number of events in Sept to coincide with the grape harvest.

Know what you mean about the elderly and tongue in cheek. One of our neighbours who is almost 85 years old proudly tells people that she is learning English to talk to us - when asked what she can say she says 'yes, yes, yes' and grins from ear to ear.

Hi Rosemary,
Sorry, I've not been on BE for a couple of days (difficult to believe, I know
)
It's been wonderful catching up with all the fantastic events that you've described so brilliantly; I almost feel like I was there
Mind you, after our own sleepless nights at fiesta time, I really don't think I would have the stamina to do it all again!!
Life in your town sounds so lovely, and you've obviously really endeared yourselves to your neighbours and others.
It certainly sounds like people in your town know how to have a good time, and it's great that you're so closely involved in your community.
Good on you
I shall look forward to the next instalment describing another event, with great anticipation
Hope you've caught up on your sleep a bit by now??
