Why, as they simply don't work and can cause more harms than any benefit. The only thing masks are good at is making money and polluting the environment

If the airline staff want to wear a mask they are old enough to make that decision for themselves. Why do people want the government to make decisions for them. Why do people want their freedoms taken away. Why are people ridiculed and called ignorant just for wanting to live their life. It’s really is quite sad.

Covid restrictions clearly affected airlines very badly but I don't think on board cabin staff and passengers wearing masks were the main issue? If really an issue at all. You say cabin staff can make their own minds up if they wish to continue wearing a mask very true they could. Issue is should passengers be wearing masks as a condition of flying? That doesn't need to be government policy although it could be but the airline company make that a condition of flying. You still have to wear a mask on a bus in Spain yet sit hours in a confined aircraft. Of course again individual passengers could decide to wear one but (I know you think its a waste of time different matter) but pointless just odd one doing it staff or passengers. It would need all to wear them or not bother, which I get is your answer.

Given that the wearing of a mask primarily protects those around the mask-wearer from the mask-wearer's germs, making it a question of choice is pointless in terms of people controlling their own potential exposure under situations where close proximity to people is unavoidable. It's not simply a matter of people being grown-up enough to decide for themselves if you think about it in those terms. It would be if the mask gave excellent protection to the wearer.

I agree it is either all or non really individuals if they wish can wear one but protection would likely really be near zero unless everyone is wearing one.

Gatwick airport have cancelled loads of flights. Heathrow airport experiencing baggage problems. Amsterdam also having major head aches. I read that Spain were expecting record tourism this year. Don’t know how they got those numbers. Torremolinos was dead last night.

At this stage in the pandemic, it makes sense to mandate masks for airports/stations/transport as that is where a lot of people accumulate. It's hardly infringing on anyone's "freedoms".

By the way, I see you've stopped arguing that airline staff who deal with the public and wear a mask would bring the sector to its knees so that's an improvement.

What concrete "freedoms" are you arguing for? Perhaps you're arguing for the freedom for people who use public transport or fly on a plane to fall ill with Covid?

Here's an example, where an IT conference turned into a superspreader event:

While Preaching Security, RSA Conference Becomes Hotbed for COVID-19

If the conference had said that wearing a mask was a requirement to attend, it could have gone ahead anyway and people would not have fallen ill... these people now are going to be off work. That will affect the economy.

If they actually worked but they simply do not work and have absolutely ZERO effect on preventing the spread of Virus's in the real world.

FFP3 masks: study shows they significantly reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection

In Hungary the only measure mandated during the waves of Nov '21 & February '22 was mask wearing (on public transport, in shops & public buildings, etc), on both occasions community transmission was markedly reduced.

Re: Problems at Manchester airport

And the percentage of the general population wearing surgical FFP3 is what..negligible at best? Let alone as the speaker in the video says are wearing them fitted correctly. Look around.

Please supply some peer reviewed evidence for this statement.

I didn’t say “masks” brought the sector to its knees. I said covid restrictions. I think you need a new pair of glasses. Inflation and cost of living at record levels because of covid restrictions and people still want a return to that madness. Incredible. If your scared of covid then stay in your house and stop trying to rule other people that just want to live their life.

Read post 34 then get back to me about who started talking about "covid restrictions".

Everyone else is talking about masks.
