I'm just trying to complete the form for last year's (2018) fictional rental income.. Has the system changed? I've done it for 2016 and 2017 with no problems, but this time after completing the form and clicking "submit" I get an error message.

I have an idea of what the problem might be (although I might be wrong). In previous years I have completed the NIF box with my NIE. I just had a look at the help page and think it implies I need a "NIF" for non residents. However, when I tried putting in my details to get a "NIF" (or equivalent) by email, it just tells me that a taxpayer with those details already exists.so (presumably) it won't email me a number. But I've never received a number! I don't know if I was notified by post as the property is an old off-grid casita/finca and the only "address" we have is a Poligono and Parcela number and it doesn't receive post.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I've searched all over the place, including the forum, but can't find any help/info.

I've just found another Agencia Tributaria help page and it says my NIE IS my tax reference.

Your NIF is your NIE - they are identical
