Hi Lionda, so sorry to hear your news. If I remember right we both moved over at about the same time, you were so looking forward to it and now your dreams have been shattered. Hope all goes well with your move back to the UK

Hi Lionda,
You sent me a PM almost a year ago now when I was looking at the Costa Blanca as a possible area to move to.
I'm really sorry to hear it hasn't gone smoothly for you but wish you well settling back in the UK.
We eventually moved to the CDS but due to stories like yours we are putting off buying for a couple of years.

Such lovely posts from everyone - thank you  I most certainly will still look in on the forum and chat with you all. This is just another chapter in my life and I have enjoyed my experience of living in another country, it's certainly been interesting!

Oh my God, Lionda! I've just read your post and I'm totally shocked. I'm so sorry for you. You're such a lovely person and you didn't deserve this. I know you're strong and you're a fighter. I really wish things had worked out for you. Keep posting, it wouldn't be the same here without you.

Lots of love and a big hug. Kyla xxx

Oh no - I'm done with travelling for a while :p Now I just want to go home. Your place looks nice - why do you want to leave? I'm looking forward to sitting in your garden having a chat over a cuppa in the summer :D

Re: Preparing to go home!

Very sorry to read of your terrible experience, Lionda, how disappointed you must be after looking forward so much to moving to Spain. If anyone ever asks me for advice about moving here, I always tell them to avoid new build property altogether, it just seems to be more trouble than it is worth with all the horror stories you read about illegal builds, things not being completed on time, people not being able to get electricity supplies etc etc. You may still get problems with older properties but at least you can see what you are getting, warts and all, and if you buy one with a proper escritura and use a decent solicitor it seems to me that the chances of problems cropping up are much reduced.

I left Rossendale to come here (we lived in Bacup) and always thought it was a nice place to live (apart from the weather), the countryside is very pretty and facilities and transport links have got much better in the last few years, particularly in and around Rawtenstall. I hope you find somewhere you like.

I have been looking on the Rightmove site at houses in Haslingden, Rawtenstall and Bacup :)
