Hi can anyone recommend or have used a UK firm to sort out paperwork for POA for Spanish property please. Thanks.

If you go back to the heady days of property purchase in Spain you will see lots of threads on this topic. As time passed one thing became clear you have to be very cautious with this aspect. People began to realise that the norm was for the solicitor to get the POA with the widest possible powers and then long after the purchase was completed (the reason for getting the POA) THEY WOULD BE DOING OTHERS THINGS AND CHARGING FOR THE SERVICE AND DIPPING INTO THE BANK ACCOUNT FOR THE FEES !

You can get a POA at Spanish consulates we got our 2 sons at the one in London and it was ever so cheap say 30 euro each. We just walked into the Notario in Punta Umbria and got our daughters there and it was 50 euro.

The advice is if you are getting the POA for your solicitor to complete your transaction have it worded to cover just those areas you want him to do and no more and then remember to cancel it when the purchase is finished with.
