With the bargain prices of Jamon now I want to send a Jamon to the UK but was quoted 50E in the P.O. Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative?

A good pata negra will set you back around 300-400 euros.
Apparently, 80% of pata negra jamon is sold within Spain, 20% abroad. A few weeks ago I noticed in Fortnum and Mason they had a good looking one for around £70/kilo.
And you can eat as much of pata negra jamon de bellota as you want, as the fat is actually good for you, the oils are good oils which come from the acorns the pigs eat. Well, you have to ignore the salt levels though...
(Sorry I dont know about how to post it cheap!)

The cost now is incredible compared to what they were, they were talking about it on the news last night so I'm going to Carefeur tomorrow to take advantage of their buy 3 for the price of 2 offers.

Especially when the ham is covered with a soiled dishcloth. My neighbours keep theirs on the ledge in the kitchen window (full sun).
There is some in the gourmet shop at el corte inglés and it cost me 32 euro for about 6 wafer thin slices

I get mine in either Makro or online from Don Quijote Ltd.
Makro a 3kg chunk is £23.00 and Don Quijote a whole white hoof is £97.00 and a black hoof is £159.00.
There is no restriction on food coming from the EU into the UK so long as it is for your own consumption
