Is it possible for non EU citizen to work in Spain?
#1
Hi all. First time on this forum for a long time. Was a migrant to Australia a lifetime ago!! Anyway, back in UK and would like to live/work in Spain if and when the opportunity arises. My wife and family are all EU citizens but sadly I am not. Is it possible for me to apply for a residential/work visa for Spain? My intention would be to stay with the company i am employed with presently and move there when a vacancy opens up. Thanks.

You can easily enter your scenario here

Thank you but it doesn't really cover my situation. My wife is not resident in the EU, she is with me in the UK. The idea would be for us to move to Spain together once I've secured a transfer through my work. I do understand that this may not be possible and that my wife may need to have stayed in Spain prior to me securing a Visa.

There is no need to complicate things.
Your wife is EU national and she can get residency in Spain. Once she get that sorted, you can apply to join her (you can be with her while she does her paperwork), no visa required. Simple.

As stated by EU Flag, you can join when your wife is resident.

You can travel with the rest of your family to enter Spain without answering any questions, you may want to have the marriage certificate at hand (if it's not Spanish, better with the Hague Apostille and even better if there's also a translation by an official/sworn translator) even though you probably won't need it at passport control as it's obvious you're a family but even so you'll need it for your application.
You both would need to enrol on the padrón and your wife would have to update her DNI with your new address if necessary.
Then you can apply for the family member card in Spain, the main requirement is your wife must work for a company, set up as self-employed, study, or have the financial means to support you.
Then once you've got your magic golden ticket you can start working.

Thank you all for the replies. I was hoping there would be some way I could take up a position prior to my spouse moving out but it would seem she would have to be in residence before that can happen.
