It must be cold!
Look up paginas amarillas espana, and then "servicios industriales", then enter your location, and the word "carbon". Coal merchants (Carboneros) and woodcutters (Lenadores) should be listed. Also, businesses Carbon y Lena (with a tilde over the "n" in lena (wood)).

Is it possible to buy house coal on the costa del sol? I asked a merchant here and I was told they did not have coal suitable for domestic fireplaces.

Not only lasts longer but also burns much hotter and chucks out much more heat.
Need to be careful not to burn out the chimney lining if its pure top quality household coal,(not coke or similar).
Wonder if you are on the Valencia side of Turis, Anna?
