Default Pool question

Yes I have looked on the normal sites but couldnt find the answer

Pool stopped filtrating 2 weeks ago whilst we were away
"Brown" rain has caused dust in the bottom of the pool so I've vacuumed it 4 times now but it just keeps coming back. Also very cloudy. Ive thrown shock chlorine in and will get some floculant tomorrow.

There is a filter next to the pump with a white plastic filter basket inside it which is full of crap. I've had the top off and tried to get it out but its solid. Can't see any clips, but does anyone have any idea as to whats holding it in as this must be a regular maintenance item? Its an Astral Pool system.

If you can't get the basket out, scoop what you can out with your hands and try again, there are no baskets that I know of that screw out. As for hoovering, turn the control valve to the 2 oclock position (waste) and then the muck won't go through the filter. Also as you have washed through the filter 4 times you'll need to backwash and rinse too. If you need more help on these procedures PM me

The baskets are held in like a bayonet grip.
There are two notches on the filter box and two corresponding cutouts in the rim of the basket, just keep turning slightly and gently pull up untill you find the slots.
Clear the crap out and put back.
Hoover the pool to waste and it will bypass the main filter, then backwash, then rinse, you will have to add water to the pool as you are hoovering.

Thanks for help

The basket did come out, just very tight. But the side is split down the seam and there is a hole in the bottom. I have no idea how it can have been caused or how long its been like that.

Off to get a new basket tomorrow, just wonder if any damage has been caused by crap getting through the filter

I've backwashed and rinsed mike thanks
