My bottlebrush (from a previous thread discussion) is doing extremely well, although thats more of a tree than a plant

Lantana does really well and as it flowers constantly it make for a good all year round plant. Roses seem to do quite well here too.

I would personally avoid Oleander at all costs!
Look good... but drink all the water in sight (and out of) and will starve your
other plants of much needed water during the summer.
Depends on what look you are trying to achieve in your garden/what you want the plants to do (hedges for wnd breaks etc).
We stick to the native plants - which usually go brown/shrivel when we cut back the watering as out prirotiy is the veggies. (And our water supply is limited).
How important is a green garden to you during the summer?
There are gardening threads/sites around - just google!

if the lists in the free beer thread offer no advice, PM me and I will send you a more comprehensive list and a garden plan and advice bit if you want it.
