If you mean the ones that look like big shrubs with brightly coloured flowers, they´re called Oleander.

Lantana does really well and as it flowers constantly it make for a good all year round plant. Roses seem to do quite well here too.

I would personally avoid Oleander at all costs!
Look good... but drink all the water in sight (and out of) and will starve your
other plants of much needed water during the summer.

Depends on what look you are trying to achieve in your garden/what you want the plants to do (hedges for wnd breaks etc).

We stick to the native plants - which usually go brown/shrivel when we cut back the watering as out prirotiy is the veggies. (And our water supply is limited).

How important is a green garden to you during the summer?
There are gardening threads/sites around - just google!

happy gardening :)

No, because someone will have a pop at me and try and show me up, and I will get huffy because I recently got my Masters in Hort and should really be called Doctor Plant, and it will end up in a massive row.....
