The Perseids, the annual meteor/shooting star effect of the Swift-Tuttle Comet debris entering the earth's atmosphere, have been visible for a few days but will be reaching their maximum this weekend.

I will look out for them as always, my late husband and I used to lie in the back garden watching for them with a glass cava.

I've spent hours lying on my back with a beer or three for the last few years. Never seen one yet.

They are supposed to be better this year than last because the moon won't be so bright.
They never seem to get going much before 3 am but are worth waiting up for. Though we're usually still outside then because it's too hot to sleep indoors!

I'm planning to go out and watch these at the weekend and the Cava sounds a great idea :-)

Up in the hills, well away from light polution and any other pollution is best.
I saw some great ones in Tenerife.
Being out in the ocean in clear air makes quite a difference also, hence the big astronomy observatories on TF and La Palma.
