Peniscola, Valencia
We have been in Spain for a month and are hoping to stay in the Peniscola, Valencia area but are not sure how we register with the relevant authorities here. We have EU passports and have been reading about NIEs and residency but are not sure what we need to do. I would be grateful for any advice or pointing to previous discussions about this on this forum. Muchas gracias.

Do you intend to stay in Spain permanently or are you going to split your time? You will need NIE numbers if you are going to spend a lot of time in Spain but you can easily obtain them at your local police station.
You can also obtain residency at the police station but you only need to do that if you intend to permanently relocate.

Thanks so much, that is great that we can go to the local police station. I contacted the local municipality and they directed me to the main government website which left me more confused. All part of the adventure I suppose
