Pedestrians Lookout!!!

Hi to all
Well nobody can say my life is dull...
Yesterday I was walking on the ??pavement?? in Chiclana on a side street by the Post Office and a van turning left into the narrow street obviously at speed mounted the kerb knocking me sideways into the wall. He would not have stopped if my other half had not chased after him. However after a heated exchange the driver gave the old excuse he did not understand and drove off. Following Police advice I went to LaLonguera ambulatorio - but guess what they had no urgent facilities until 5.00 in the afternoon!!! They did call an ambulance which took over one hour to come. Fortunately my arm was just badly bruised and is now in a sling for 10 days. I have just been able to make a denuncia at the local Police station after 4 previous attempts. Was able to get the vehicle registration number and many kind people helped after the event and two are willing to testify - so watch this space...
My advice is do not rely on the pavements as a safe place to walk on in the town centre :scared:

Hope you soon get over the shock of it all, make a full recovery and find the driver.
The La Longuera ambulatorio is generally only open when the health centre facilities are closed. As you said from 5pm until I think 8am, it is open all hours weekends and bank holidays.
You would think the policeman would have known

Worth pursuing. They should have car/commercial insurance, so yes, go for it.

Hope you recover well ......... Just wondered if this story has any bearing on the fact that Spaniards seem to walk in the middle of the road a lot round here ...... maybe they feel safer there than on the pavement
