Sure is a sad day Mike, in my mind he was a very good actor and a fine man, to me he is up there with the all time greats.

Did you mean to have the angry face smilie on your thread title, mikelincs? (Cancer stinks, so perhaps it would be appropriate.)

Paul Newman is well remembered, along with Cary Grant, Stewart Grainger, & Gary Cooper to name a few. RIP. I believe he too will leave a legacy.

Yet, how many younger people know of these stars of the silver screen? (Why "silver screen"? Was the movie screen actually silver? (Just a thought.)

Is it because today there is an abundance of information from the media that overwhelms us? (If we allow it. Speaking generally here.) So much so that not everything "sinks in", and we concentrate on the "now" and ignore the "past"? Just another thought (not wishing to go far off topic.)
